In this tutorial we have run through the options for setting up your development environment. Although many of these options will be dictated by budget and circumstance rather than choice it is always useful to understand some of the alternatives.
We have briefly covered the basic requirements for your workstation and how to install much of the required software. We have discussed the three database options provided by Microsoft along with some of the implications of each choice. Finally, we have covered the basics for choosing a development package working through the free options through to the professional package, Visual Studio.
In our next article we will be creating our first projects and introducing you, in more depth, to the software that we have already discussed.
