Microsoft notepadASP.Net web pages are, in their most basic form, text files with the .aspx file extension. As a result any application capable of producing text files such as Notepad can be used to create ASP.Net web applications. However be aware that although you can develop using even the simplest of text editors the more advanced tools such as Visual Studio do make your life significantly easier. So while we consider Notepad as being the bottom tier of options for development, Notepad will offer you no assistance during the development process. Any errors that you create in the code either through lack of knowledge or just plain bad typing will not be detected by Notepad and may prevent your applications from working. Working with a basic text editor will make your life considerably more difficult.
