Across both the training and conference talks, there was a lot of knowledge to bring back to our <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/">Belfast SEO Agency</a>.</p>
<p>Here are four key lessons Rachael brought back to the office.</p>
<p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6895 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer.png" alt="" width="1200" height="627" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer-200x105.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer-600x314.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BrightonSEO-Oct-2025-Codefixer.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<h3><strong>1. Keyword research is evolving, but intent still matters most</strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The training by James McKay opened with a focus on keyword research, reminding us that</span><b> user intent </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">remains the most important first step for SEO. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Informational keywords might not always drive conversions, but they still build E-E-A-T and support wider digital PR efforts. Transactional keywords might be lower volume, but often deliver the strongest commercial value.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">f competition for a seed keyword is very high, it’s worth looking for semantic variations, as these are often easier to rank for. Aside from keyword research tools, </span><b>Amazon suggestions</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span><b>Reddit</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and</span><b> Wikipedia </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">are other great places to find semantic search terms.</span></p>
<h3><strong>2. Ecommerce content needs to be genuinely useful</strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another key reminder from the training was to</span><b> think like a shop assistant </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">when creating content for ecommerce sites. It’s not just about word count or keyword density, you need to anticipate what users need from your brand in order to make a confident purchase.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For ecommerce sites, this means:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Including size guides, returns details, and payment options on product pages</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Keeping About and Store pages updated to reinforce trust and local relevance</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Highlighting reviews, awards, and trust signals through schema markup</span></li>
</ul>
<h3><b>3. AI search is on everyone&#8217;s mind</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One theme definitely got a lot of airtime at this year’s BrightonSEO… LLMs and AI search! AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perlexity &#8211; it’s very clear that the way people find and consume information online is changing.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here are a few great insights from Roman Leliuk&#8217;s talk on LLM visibility:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><strong>Facts</strong> cited in AI Overviews<span style="font-weight: 400;"> tend to appear on the first few sections of a page</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 in 3 AI citations come from comparative content, like <strong>&#8220;</strong></span><b>vs&#8221; article</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>s</strong> or </span><b>listicles</b></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">In AI search, </span><strong>mentions</strong> (in text) are as influential as backlinks</li>
<li aria-level="1">AI training bots follow robots.txt just fine for now, so there&#8217;s<strong> no need for llms.txt</strong> (this was stressed by multiple speakers)</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ben Smith from Similarweb also revealed that while AI Search drives fewer clicks, the traffic quality is far higher, because </span><b>AI users are already primed to engage</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">. That means once someone lands on your site, you have to work hard to keep them there with seamless UX.</span></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6893 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1.png" alt="" width="1200" height="627" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1-200x105.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1-600x314.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/AI-Mode-Key-Takeaways-Codefixer-1.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<h3><b>4. Digital PR is about relevance, not just reach</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One of the most memorable talks came from Luke Cope at Bottled Imagination, who shared their <a href="https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/bathroom-ideas-and-inspiration/the-final-flush" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Final Flush campaign</a> for Victoria Plumbing.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Using government data, the team highlighted how many public toilets have closed across the UK, predicting when they will finally become extinct! It was funny, topical, and made complete sense for the brand. The story landed plenty of national coverage and </span><b>earned links back to the “money pages” i.e. the category pages</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It really showed how digital PR works best when the idea fits naturally with what the business does, rather than forcing a link between product and story.</span></p>
<h3><b>Final Thoughts on BrightonSEO 2025?</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Overall, it sounds as if the October round of BrightonSEO 2025 was a brilliant few days of learning. Thanks to all the speakers and trainers for sharing their own data and insights!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We’ll be putting these learnings to good use back here at our agency. If you’re keen to improve your website’s SEO, we’d be happy to chat about a strategy built on this latest industry know-how.</span></p>

Whether you&#8217;re trying to track conversions or understand which campaigns are driving results, GA4 can feel overwhelming at first.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With </span><a href="https://ga4.com/ga4-stats#:~:text=Google%20Analytics%204%20is%20currently%20used%20by%2014.2%20million%20websites."><span style="font-weight: 400;">over 14 million websites</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> using GA4 in 2025, knowing how to make the most of Google Analytics 4 is a must for any business wanting to make confident, data-led marketing decisions. The good news is that with the right setup, you can join them. </span></p>
<h3><b>Top 10 GA4 Best Practices</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Getting started with Google Analytics 4 is one thing. Making sure it gives you useful, trustworthy data is another. The following GA4 best practices will help you get more clarity from your reports, improve how you&#8217;re using Google Analytics, and avoid common mistakes that can lead to confusion or poor decisions.</span></p>
<h3>1. Set the correct data retention period</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">By default, GA4 only keeps user-level data, such as event history, for two months. However, this is rarely enough time to review long-term trends or to evaluate your marketing performance across quarters. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Luckily, you can extend this to 14 months, giving you the ability to run more meaningful comparisons and spot seasonal patterns more effectively. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To increase your data retention period in GA4, go to Admin &gt; Data Retention, and select “14 months” in the dropdowns for event data and user data.</span></p>
<h3>2. Filter out internal traffic</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You and your team’s visits to your website can distort your reporting, making it harder to see what real users are doing. To filter this internal traffic out, even if your team is working off-site, you can:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Define internal traffic using IP address rules under the Admin settings</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Create a data filter that excludes internal traffic</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Use DebugView to confirm it’s working as expected</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Setting this up helps ensure your GA4 tracking reflects actual user behaviour, not testing or internal reviews. If you are not sure how to identify the right IP ranges or apply filters correctly, we’d recommend </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-analytics-training/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">GA4 training</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> so you can learn how to set it up and test.</span></p>
<h3>3. Exclude unwanted referrals</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">GA4 may mistakenly attribute a conversion to a third-party domain, such as PayPal or Stripe, if a user returns to your site after completing a transaction. This misattribution can affect how you assess campaign effectiveness, and is often an issue we find across eCommerce clients who come to us for help with their </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">and Google Ads strategies. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You can fix this by listing known payment processors or other irrelevant domains as “unwanted referrals” in the Admin/Settings area of GA4. Doing so will help make your attribution models more reliable and help you better adjust accurate marketing decisions.</span></p>
<h3>4. Set up custom events and conversions</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">GA4 tracks interactions using events, replacing the older goal-based approach in Universal Analytics (UA). To make this data meaningful, define custom events that align with your business objectives. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For example, you might track clicks on a &#8216;Book a Call&#8217; button or submissions of a lead form. These can then be marked as Key Events (i.e., conversions) in GA4, helping you measure actions that matter, rather than just page views or time on site.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To mark a key event in GA4, simply go to Admin &gt; Events, and &#8216;star&#8217; any event you consider important.</span></p>
<h3>5. Use custom audiences for deeper insights</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Audiences let you group users based on specific actions or traits, such as returning visitors, users who viewed a product page but did not convert, or those who spent a certain amount of time on your site. This makes it easier to analyse the behaviour of high-value users and can also be used to build remarketing lists in Google Ads, connecting your analytics data with campaign targeting.</span></p>
<h3>6. Make the most of the Explore reports</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">GA4’s Explore reports allow you to go beyond standard dashboards. These reports help you investigate specific questions using funnel analysis, segment comparisons, and path explorations. For instance, you could see where users are dropping off in your checkout flow or compare the journeys of first-time and returning users. Explore gives you the flexibility to dig into the story behind your data. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Though fair warning, Explore reports can take a bit of time to get familiar with!</span></p>
<h3>7. Link GA4 with Google Ads</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you&#8217;re running </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-adwords/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Google Ads</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> campaigns, linking them with GA4 is essential. This connection allows you to import your GA4 key events into Google Ads, which improves bidding accuracy and gives you better visibility into which ads are driving results. As mentioned above, linking Ads and GA4 also helps you build remarketing lists or exclude converted users from future campaigns using your set Audiences.</span></p>
<h3>8. Check your data streams and tag setup</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Accurate GA4 tracking depends on having your tags installed and firing correctly. If something is misconfigured, you might miss valuable data without realising. Regularly review your data streams in GA4 and test your implementation using tools like Google Tag Manager. This helps ensure all key actions on your website are being tracked properly.</span></p>
<h3>9. Apply UTM parameters consistently</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">UTM parameters help GA4 identify where your traffic is coming from. If these are missing or used inconsistently, your campaign data may be lumped into the wrong source or medium, making it harder to see which channels are actually working. Using a consistent naming structure and applying UTM tags to all outbound campaign links, including email and social posts, gives you cleaner reports and more reliable insights.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you’re not sure how to create a custom UTM parameter, this </span><a href="https://ga-dev-tools.google/ga4/campaign-url-builder/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">GA Dev Tools UTM builder</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is easy to use for beginners.</span></p>
<h3>10. Review your reporting structure regularly</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">GA4 gives you the flexibility to structure your reports how you want, so it is important to tailor your setup to your business needs. Instead of only relying on default reports, consider building custom dashboards that align with your team’s key metrics. Whether that’s lead volume by channel, ecommerce conversion rate, or </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/seo-roi-calculating-seo-return-on-investment/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO return on investment</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, clear and relevant reporting supports better decision-making across the board.</span></p>
<h3><b>Why Trust an Agency to Make the Complex Clear</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">GA4 can be powerful, but it can also take up valuable time, especially if you&#8217;re not confident that your setup is working properly. This is where working with an experienced agency can make a real difference.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We use GA4 every day across all our </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-adwords/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Google Ads</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> work. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It depends on your resources and goals. Learning GA4 internally can work well if you want full control, especially with proper training. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In this blog, we’ll explain why Google Ads matter for local businesses and how to decide if they’re right for yours.</span></p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>Why Local Businesses Shouldn’t Ignore Google Ads</b></h3>
<p>Local customers are searching online more than ever. Whether it’s finding a place to eat, hiring a contractor, or looking for legal help, people often include phrases like “near me” or their town name in their searches.</p>
<p>Being visible on Google at the moment someone is ready to buy can make a huge difference. With the average person making over <a href="https://www.semrush.com/blog/google-search-statistics/#:~:text=On%20a%20per%2Dperson%20basis%20(assuming%20the%20United%20Nations%20has%20the%20most%20recent%20global%20population%20estimate%20at%208.2%20billion%20people)%2C%20this%20translates%20to%20every%20person%20conducting%20about%20610%20searches%20each%20year.">600 searches a year</a>, not appearing in those results means missed sales opportunities.</p>
<p>Google Ads help local businesses show up at the top of search results (above the organic listings) and on Google Maps, putting your business front and centre when it matters most.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6721 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer.png" alt="Google Ads vs Organic Listings on Google" width="1200" height="627" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer-200x105.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer-600x314.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-vs-Organic-Example-Codefixer.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<h3><b>Benefits of Google Ads for Local Business</b></h3>
<p>Google Ads have a number of key benefits for local businesses. They let you target the right customers at the right time, boost your visibility across various parts of Google, and can be effective with a realistic level of spend.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3>&#x1f4cd; Google Ads Target Local Customers</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One of the biggest advantages of </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">using Google Ads in your marketing strategy</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is how precisely you can target your audience. Instead of paying for ads seen by people miles away, you can choose to show your ads:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Only within your town or a specific radius around your business</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">To certain age groups or people with interests related to your services</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">To people searching for the exact services or products you offer</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This means you spend your budget only on people who are more likely to become your customers, helping reduce your </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/how-does-google-ads-calculate-your-cost-per-click/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">average cost per click</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and improve your return on investment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For example:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">A </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/case-studies/google-ads-garden-centre/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">garden centre</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> could exclude areas where competitors are strong.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">An electrical store could target neighbourhoods within its fast delivery radius.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">A law firm might focus only on personal injury searches in its local area.</span></li>
</ul>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3>&#x1f6d2; They Reach People Who Are Ready to Buy</h3>
<p>Timing is extremely important when it comes to sales; catch someone at the exact time they need a product or service and you&#8217;re more likely to get their custom.</p>
<p>Unlike ads that interrupt people on social media, Google Ads targets people when they&#8217;re actively searching. For example, if someone types in <strong>&#8220;kitchen showroom Belfast,&#8221;</strong> your ad can appear just as they’re starting a serious home renovation and looking to book a consultation.</p>
<p>This high level of intent makes Google Ads one of the most effective ways for local businesses to connect with customers who are ready to buy.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3>&#x1f5fa;&#xfe0f; Ads Make Your Business Stand Out on Maps &amp; Search</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Google offers several ad formats that work brilliantly for local businesses:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Local Search Ads</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Appear in Google Maps when someone searches for businesses nearby, showing your pin, directions, and reviews.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Search Ads</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">: Appear at the top of Google’s search results for key terms related to your business.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Local Service Ads</b>: Great for trades, legal services, <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/case-studies/healthcare-company-google-ads/">healthcare companies</a>, and similar industries, these let customers call or book directly from the search page.</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These ads can also link with your Google Business Profile, helping potential customers see your location, opening hours, phone number, and reviews – all of which build trust and encourage them to get in touch:</span></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6722 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer.png" alt="Google Ads on Google Maps and Maps on Search Examples" width="1200" height="627" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer-200x105.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer-600x314.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Google-Ads-Maps-Example-Codefixer.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3>&#x1f4c8; There are Flexible Ad Budgets for Any Business Size</h3>
<p>A big worry for many small-to-medium businesses is cost. The good news is you don’t need a massive budget to test the waters with Google Ads. Even a modest <strong>£1,000 monthly budget</strong> can make an impact if your ads are well-targeted.</p>
<p>It’s important to remember – you only pay when someone clicks your ad or takes action like calling your business. So if you accurately control who you show your ads to, it’s easy to control spending and focus your budget on people who genuinely want what you offer.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>Is Google Ads Worth It for Local Businesses?</b></h3>
<p>Google Ads can absolutely be worth it for local businesses, but only if set up and managed properly. To assess if Google Ads are worth it for your business, ask yourself these questions:</p>
</div><div class="accordian fusion-accordian" style="--awb-border-size:1px;--awb-icon-size:16px;--awb-content-font-size:16px;--awb-icon-alignment:left;--awb-hover-color:#f9f9fb;--awb-border-color:#e2e2e2;--awb-background-color:#ffffff;--awb-divider-color:#e0dede;--awb-divider-hover-color:#e0dede;--awb-icon-color:#ffffff;--awb-title-color:#00bef2;--awb-content-color:#747474;--awb-icon-box-color:#212934;--awb-toggle-hover-accent-color:#00bef2;--awb-title-font-family:&quot;AmaranthLocalRegular&quot;;--awb-title-font-weight:400;--awb-title-font-style:normal;--awb-title-font-size:1.3em;--awb-content-font-family:&quot;MartelLocalRegular&quot;;--awb-content-font-style:normal;--awb-content-font-weight:400;"><div class="panel-group fusion-toggle-icon-boxed" id="accordion-6536-2"><div class="fusion-panel panel-default panel-db95ea953eae9e48f fusion-toggle-has-divider" style="--awb-title-color:#00bef2;--awb-content-color:#747474;"><div class="panel-heading"><h4 class="panel-title toggle" id="toggle_db95ea953eae9e48f"><a aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="db95ea953eae9e48f" role="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-parent="#accordion-6536-2" data-target="#db95ea953eae9e48f" href="#db95ea953eae9e48f"><span class="fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper" aria-hidden="true"><i class="fa-fusion-box active-icon awb-icon-minus" aria-hidden="true"></i><i class="fa-fusion-box inactive-icon awb-icon-plus" aria-hidden="true"></i></span><span class="fusion-toggle-heading">Is my industry competitive? </span></a></h4></div><div id="db95ea953eae9e48f" class="panel-collapse collapse " aria-labelledby="toggle_db95ea953eae9e48f"><div class="panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix">
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Some industries, like legal services or </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">electrical goods</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, have lots of businesses running paid ads, which can increase costs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A quick way to see who’s running ads in your industry is to Google your main keywords and check who appears at the top with “Sponsored” labels next to their names (that’s your competition in paid search).</span></p>
<p>If lots of businesses are advertising, you might need a higher budget or a more targeted approach.</p>
</div></div></div><div class="fusion-panel panel-default panel-460df5ec6a21b18e1 fusion-toggle-has-divider" style="--awb-title-color:#00bef2;--awb-content-color:#747474;"><div class="panel-heading"><h4 class="panel-title toggle" id="toggle_460df5ec6a21b18e1"><a aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="460df5ec6a21b18e1" role="button" data-toggle="collapse" data-parent="#accordion-6536-2" data-target="#460df5ec6a21b18e1" href="#460df5ec6a21b18e1"><span class="fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper" aria-hidden="true"><i class="fa-fusion-box active-icon awb-icon-minus" aria-hidden="true"></i><i class="fa-fusion-box inactive-icon awb-icon-plus" aria-hidden="true"></i></span><span class="fusion-toggle-heading">What is my average customer value?</span></a></h4></div><div id="460df5ec6a21b18e1" class="panel-collapse collapse " aria-labelledby="toggle_460df5ec6a21b18e1"><div class="panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix">
<p>Think about how much a typical customer is worth to your business. If you sell high-value products or services, even one or two new customers could easily cover your ad costs and bring in profit.</p>
<p>For businesses with lower-priced products or services, you’ll need to estimate how many new customers you’d need to make your investment worthwhile.</p>

<p>One of the benefits of Google Ads is that you can start small and increase your spending once you see what’s working. Consider how much you’re comfortable investing each month into your digital marketing and whether you can commit enough time to properly test and refine your ads.</p>

Even if you’ve run Meta ads before, there are distinct differences in running Google Ads.</span></p>
<p>That’s why many businesses let experts manage their ads, or invest in professional <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-ads-training/">Google Ads Training</a>.</p>

<p>Unlike <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/">SEO</a>, which can take months to build momentum, Google Ads gets you instant visibility and brings in leads fast<span style="font-weight: 400;">.  If you need new customers quickly, such as to fill appointments or boost seasonal sales, paid ads might be a smart option.</span></p>

To gain that lucrative top spot, eCommerce businesses need their organic search (SEO) strategy to be more than an afterthought.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This blog breaks down nine practical eCommerce SEO tips to help online shops stay competitive in this cutthroat industry and sell more in the process.</span></p>
<h3><b>What is eCommerce SEO?</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">eCommerce SEO makes online shops more visible organically in search results. It&#8217;s more than just finding the right keywords; it’s about improving your site&#8217;s structure, content, and performance. Strong eCommerce SEO strategies don’t just attract visitors – they support conversions and long-term business growth.</span></p>
<h3><b>Top 9 eCommerce SEO Tips to Increase Sales</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When carried out correctly, the following tips provide a practical jumping-off point for businesses that want to make SEO work harder for their online shop. While each one is useful on its own, we find the real value comes when they’re used together as part of a consistent </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO strategy</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<h5><strong>1.  Optimise Product Pages for Search Intent</strong></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Your product pages should match the search terms that people are actually searching. This doesn’t just mean targeting the right keywords; it also means creating content that speaks to their needs. Even the page layout can factor into how a visitor will interact with your site.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Include key features and benefits at the top of the product description to signal to potential buyers how this product will solve their problem. Using relevant search terms throughout the copy, page titles, and descriptions will signal to Google what this page is about, improving visibility and conversions.  For example, if you sell hairdryers, include benefits such as ‘quiet’ or ‘no-frizz technology’ at the top to help customers understand what your product does and how it helps. </span></p>
<h5><b>2. Focus on Long-Tail Keywords That Drive Sales</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When matching keywords to search intent, don’t underestimate the power of long-tail keywords, particularly in your title tags. Although these keywords will likely have low search volumes, they tend to be more specific and commercially focused. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Title tags essentially tell the user and Google what the page they’re landing on is about. Aside from appearing in traditional listings, Google pulls these title tags to display in its organic and </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-shopping-ads/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">paid Shopping</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> results. Using long-tail keywords, you can still be competitive without such stiff competition. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Luckily, we find the following title tag template is a great start:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">‘Brand name’ ‘product name’ ‘USP’| ‘Your brand’</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But, where many eCommerce businesses fall down is with getting those long-tail keywords right from the start. It’s time-consuming to research the right keywords for your products, which is why we recommend </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-seo-training/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO training</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> to help you cut through the keyword noise and get your products ranking higher.</span></p>
<h5><strong>3. Take Advantage of Organic Shopping Listings</strong></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the last few years, Google has drastically changed how search results are displayed for eCommerce queries. The traditional ‘blue link’ listings are no longer the first thing you see when searching for a product. Take the example search for ‘garden gnomes: before the top organic listing is shown, customers must first scroll past Sponsored Ads, Organic Shopping and even a carousel of Product Sites to get to it.  </span></p>
<div id="attachment_6526" style="width: 723px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-6526" class="wp-image-6526 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-102955.png" alt="" width="713" height="674" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-102955-200x189.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-102955-300x284.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-102955-400x378.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-102955-600x567.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-102955.png 713w" sizes="(max-width: 713px) 100vw, 713px" /><p id="caption-attachment-6526" class="wp-caption-text">‘Garden gnomes’ SERPs, showing organic shopping ads before organic listings</p></div>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
Optimising for Organic Shopping is an easy and ‘free’ way to get your products showing where it matters most. Unlike </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-shopping-ads/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Paid Shopping Ads</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, which automatically display your products above all else, Organic Shopping listings are created by Google pulling the most relevant information from the product page itself.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is why optimising these pages’ descriptions, images, title tags, and reviews is crucial. And you can even take it a step further and add the key features (or USPs) as Product Highlight Attributes under your </span><a href="https://merchants.google.com/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Google Merchant Center</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> account. Doing so can help Google narrow down the key features and benefits to display so customers know exactly how your product will help them. </span></p>
<h5><b>4. Create Conversion-Focused Supplementary Content</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Beyond product listings, supplementary content like FAQs, category descriptions, and blogs like buying guides can attract organic traffic and build trust. In fact, </span><a href="https://optinmonster.com/blogging-statistics/#:~:text=57%25%20of%20marketers%20say%20they%E2%80%99ve%20gained%20customers%20specifically%20through%20blogging."><span style="font-weight: 400;">57% of marketers</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> say blogging has helped them gain customers who use Google to research products before purchase.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Often underused within eCommerce, supplementary content answers buyer questions and supports users through the consideration phase, which often nudges them closer to purchase. While it doesn&#8217;t lead to immediate sales, it’s part of a long-term strategy to nurture future sales.</span></p>
<h5><strong>5. Build a Search-Friendly Site Structure</strong></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The longer a visitor stays on your site, the higher Google will rank it, so having a clear, logical site structure will help users explore longer. Plus, a good site structure enables search engines to navigate your website easily.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Having well-labelled categories, simple navigation, and a shallow page hierarchy (pages found within a few page clicks of your homepage) makes products easy to find and index. If your website has large catalogues, and therefore more pages, this kind of structure helps Google discover more, increasing visibility and ultimately leading to more sales.</span></p>
<h5><strong>6. Use Internal Linking to Your Advantage</strong></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Internal linking helps search engines understand your site and spreads page authority more effectively. It also keeps users exploring your site by guiding them to related products or useful content. Remember, the longer a user stays on your website, the more likely Google rewards it with a higher ranking.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Take one of our eCommerce clients who sells wood stoves, for example. At the bottom of their product pages, they include two sections that help improve the customer journey by offering them alternative options to explore and helpful accessories to add to their basket. </span></p>
<div id="attachment_6528" style="width: 924px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-6528" class="wp-image-6528 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252.png" alt="" width="914" height="690" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252-200x151.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252-300x226.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252-400x302.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252-600x453.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252-768x580.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252-800x604.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot-2025-07-04-103252.png 914w" sizes="(max-width: 914px) 100vw, 914px" /><p id="caption-attachment-6528" class="wp-caption-text">Example uses of internal linking on product pages.</p></div>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
Internal linking can also help with underperforming pages. Linking from high-performing pages to these pages (as long as they&#8217;re relevant) can help boost page performance and improve time on site.</span></p>
<h5><strong>7. Don’t Skip Technical SEO Basics</strong></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Technical SEO is often underestimated, but it makes sure your site can be properly crawled, indexed, and ranked. Even with great content, issues like slow load times, broken links, or mobile usability problems can impact sales.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One common technical issue we’ve seen on Shopify sites is duplicate content from tagged collection pages, especially when static subcategory pages are missing. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We recently helped a <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/case-studies/seo-figure-skating-clothing-brand/">figure skating store</a> facing this exact problem; they had strong products, they weren’t ranking. By addressing duplicate tag pages and building proper subcategories, their visibility and traffic improved significantly, and their figure skating leggings became a top seller.</span></p>
<h5><strong>8. Implement Structured Data (Schema Markup)</strong></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Structured data adds context to your pages by marking up information like price, availability, and reviews. This allows your listings to appear with rich snippets in search results and can even help with visibility in your </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/google-shopping-ads/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Google Shopping Ads</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> campaign, increasing click-through rates. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While this requires some technical know-how, it is one of the most effective eCommerce SEO practices to implement.</span></p>
<h5><strong>9. Align SEO Strategy with Seasonal Trends and Sales Cycles</strong></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For many eCommerce websites, seasonality plays a big part in their online visibility and performance. But it is possible to make the most of these peaks and troughs with SEO. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For instance, if your peak sales happen around winter, like our </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">home-heating ecomm client</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, plan your product page optimisations ahead of time. This gives search engines a chance to index and rank them before the colder months set in. Then, during the lower traffic months, you can focus on technical tweaks or add helpful blog content to continue building brand awareness and trust.</span></p>
<p>This is where tracking key metrics is especially important. It allows you to understand the fluctuations of your sales cycles and how (and when) to prepare for the next one.</p>
<h3><b>Let an SEO Agency Do the Heavy Lifting for Your eCommerce Site</b></h3>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6202 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/designing-ads-landing-page.jpg" alt="SEO and Google Ad Specialists from Codefixer" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/designing-ads-landing-page-200x133.jpg 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/designing-ads-landing-page-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/designing-ads-landing-page-400x267.jpg 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/designing-ads-landing-page.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
Even with the right tips in hand, implementing a full eCommerce SEO strategy can be time-consuming, especially when you’re already juggling stock, delivery, other marketing channels, and more. That’s where partnering with an SEO agency that understands eCommerce can make all the difference. Alongside understanding eCommerce SEO best practices, we know the importance of tracking performance. But with prices ranging from under £200 to several thousand pounds a month, understanding what SEO costs – and what you’re actually paying for – can be challenging. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This guide breaks down how SEO pricing works, what’s included, and how to invest wisely based on your business goals.</span></p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>What Are You Actually Paying for With SEO?</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Understanding the cost for SEO services starts with knowing what’s included. The thing is, SEO is rarely one task; it&#8217;s a combination of strategic, technical, and creative work that builds over time.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A comprehensive SEO strategy typically covers:</span></p>
<ul class="news-ul">
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>SEO audits: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">Recommended as the first step, an </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-audit/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">audit</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> helps uncover technical errors, content gaps compared to competitors, and off-page issues to help create a successful strategy. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>On-page SEO and content:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> This involves improving on-page elements like title tags and meta descriptions (page descriptions for Google) and updating or adding optimised content like blogs, resources, and service pages.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Off-page SEO:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> This involves building up a website’s online authority and trust by building backlinks, optimising local SEO efforts, and using established social media presence for promotion.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Reporting and performance tracking:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Often an area where many shady professionals fall down is with reporting. SEOs who know their stuff will provide you with monthly analyses of traffic, rankings, and conversions.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But, it’s important to note that the cost of SEO is not just about the deliverables but also the expertise, tools, and time needed to implement the strategy. And adapt it when it’s needed too.</span></p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>Common SEO Pricing Models</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are several different ways </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is priced. The most common is monthly retainers, but it depends on your business’s needs and goals. These models are:</span></p>
<ul>
<li aria-level="1"><b>Monthly retainers: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">A fixed monthly fee that covers an agreed scope of work. Ideal for ongoing campaigns and long-term growth strategies.</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li aria-level="1"><b>Project-based pricing: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">A one-off cost for a specific deliverable, such as an SEO audit, migration support, or content refresh. Freelancer SEOs tend to prefer this pricing model. </span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li aria-level="1"><b>Hourly consulting: </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">Used when you need strategic input or support on demand, and is often used by senior SEO consultants or specialists.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As you can see, each model suits different stages of a business. For instance, start-ups might need a one-off audit so they have a baseline to build from, while larger businesses benefit more from continuous improvement via a retainer.</span></p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>Typical Price Ranges for SEO Services</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unfortunately, it’s not possible to give set costs for SEO as the exact amount will depend on your business goals, the size of the website, and the amount of work needed. However, we’ve put together percentage breakdowns that can be a useful starting point for how your SEO budget <strong>might</strong> typically be allocated:</span></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="wp-image-6470 alignleft" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-1024x768.png" alt="" width="712" height="534" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-200x150.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-300x225.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-400x300.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-600x450.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-768x576.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-800x600.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-1024x768.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-1200x900.png 1200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/SEO-Costs-Pie-Chart-Codefixer-2-1536x1152.png 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 712px) 100vw, 712px" /></p>
<h5><b>Strategy and Planning – 10%</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This includes competitor research, keyword strategy, content planning, and project plan creation (usually in 12-month timeframes).</span></p>
<h5><b>Technical SEO – 15%</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From audits to implementation of fixes, this portion covers site speed, crawlability, structured data, and other foundational elements.</span></p>
<h5><b>Content Creation – 30%</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Blogs, landing pages, guides, and product content form the core of most SEO strategies. AI-assistive writing tools have helped streamline this process, however, they can be used incorrectly. So, high-performing content still needs skilled writers and editors to avoid the </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/using-chatgpt-for-content-creation/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">common mistakes of AI content</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<h5></h5>
<h5></h5>
<h5><b>On-Page SEO &#8211; 15%</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This involves optimising the individual elements on each page – titles, headers, internal linking, image alt text, and keyword placement – to align with best practices and search intent. On-page SEO works hand-in-hand with your content, helping it perform better and rank more effectively.</span></p>
<h5><b>Off-Page SEO – 20%</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This includes ethical link building, digital PR, Google Business Profile (GBP) optimisation, local citation management, and brand mentions. These activities signal credibility and trust to search engines – and are often make-or-break for ranking in competitive sectors. </span></p>
<h5><b>Reporting and Analytics – 10%</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Covers the setup and ongoing analysis of KPIs, dashboards, and monthly reporting – critical for understanding ROI and adjusting tactics.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This breakdown shows how each SEO element can deliver long-term value. Undervaluing one, for example, skipping technical SEO or underfunding content, can greatly limit results.</span></p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>What Affects the Cost of SEO?</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO is never truly off-the-shelf. The cost of a campaign depends on several things, including:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Industry competitiveness:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Niches like finance, </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/law-firm-seo/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">law</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, or ecommerce tend to require more effort.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Website size and condition:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Older or poorly maintained sites often need extensive technical work.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Geographic reach:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Local SEO is usually more affordable than national or international targeting.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Business goals:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Whether you&#8217;re aiming for gradual growth or aggressive expansion will shape the strategy.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Type of provider</b>: Freelancers are typically lower cost and suited to smaller tasks, whereas full-service agencies or consultants cost more but bring expertise and scale and integration.</li>
</ul>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>Cheap SEO Usually Costs More Long-Term</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Low-cost SEO can look appealing, especially if you’re trying to stretch a limited marketing budget. If the price looks too good to be true, it usually is. And as the saying goes &#8211; if you pay cheap, you&#8217;ll pay twice.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We’ve worked with many clients who come to us after being burned by cheap SEO professionals. In some cases, they’ve ended up wasting far more money trying to undo poor-quality work than they would have spent getting it done properly from the start.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The warning signs are often there. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#x1f4c9; Deliverables tend to be vague or completely unclear, and reporting is either minimal or non-existent.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#x1f6a9; Some cheap SEOs offer bold promises, like guaranteed first-page rankings overnight!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#x1f517; One of the biggest red flags is that link building is done badly. Low-quality backlinks can do long-term damage to your visibility.</span></p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3><b>What Does ‘Good Value’ SEO Actually Look Like?</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Good SEO value isn’t about paying the lowest price – it’s about investing in work</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that delivers sustainable results. An SEO partner worth their salt will focus on building lasting visibility that supports your wider marketing and commercial goals.</span></p>
<p>You should know exactly what’s being done, why it matters, and how it’s progressing. The right SEO won’t confuse you with jargon or tick-box tactics – they’ll align their work to your business goals and adapt the approach as your needs change.</p>

Should our SEO backlink strategy aim for reach or relevance?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These are common concerns and are sometimes hotly debated in digital marketing circles. Striking the right balance means weighing up quality vs quantity across your content creation and link-building efforts. It’s rarely an either-or decision. The best approach for your business depends on your business goals, available resources, and how competitive your industry is.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In this blog, we’ll help you get a clearer sense of how quality and quantity factor into a successful SEO strategy. </span></p>
<h3><b>Content Quality vs Content Quantity</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There’s no shortage of opinions on what matters more in an <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/">SEO strategy</a>: publishing frequently, or publishing only when you have something valuable to say. It’s easy to get confused when both sides of the argument seem to have merit.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The truth? Both play a role in a successful SEO content strategy. But, understanding when and why to prioritise one over the other is where many marketers get stuck. Let’s break that down, starting with why quality should always be your foundation.</span></p>
<h5><b>Why Quality Matters</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Quality content is more than just an enjoyable read – it’s how Google judges relevance and authority. Google&#8217;s algorithms are designed to reward helpful, original content that genuinely serves the user. And that’s where <a href="https://developers.google.com/search/docs/fundamentals/creating-helpful-content">Google’s EEAT</a> comes in.</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Experience:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Content that reflects real-life use or hands-on involvement in a subject is more trustworthy. Google is more likely to rank pages written from actual experience.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Expertise:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Knowledgeable, in-depth insights show that your brand understands its subject. This is especially important for technical or industry-specific topics.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Authoritativeness:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Authority comes from a blend of strong writing, subject expertise, and positive recognition from other websites, including links from quality backlinks.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Trustworthiness:</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Clear, accurate, and well-sourced content helps build user trust. That trust makes your content more valuable in Google’s eyes.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This core framework is used to assess content quality. So, focusing on quality content first lays the groundwork for long-term success and opens the door for quality backlinks to follow naturally.</span></p>
<h5><b>The Role of Quantity</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While quality matters most, that doesn’t mean quantity has no place. Publishing regularly and covering a wide range of topics can benefit your SEO content strategy in several ways:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Frequent updates signal to Google that your website is active and relevant</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Covering a broad mix of topics helps build topical authority and allows you to target more niche and long-tail keywords</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">A steady flow of content keeps your audience engaged and encourages return visits</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In other words, quantity can support and amplify the impact of your quality content, as long as it’s done thoughtfully.</span></p>
<h5><b>The Balance of Content Quality and Quantity </b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Finding the right blend of quality and quantity in your content is key to a successful SEO strategy. Here are a few simple ways you might strike that balance:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Set minimum content standards before hitting publish</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Focus on evergreen topics with long-term value</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Supplement flagship content with shorter, targeted posts</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Use performance data to refine what you publish and how often</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Build an editorial calendar that aligns with business cycles and user intent.</span></li>
</ul>
<h3><b>Backlink Quality vs Backlink Quantity</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When it comes to backlinks, the debate is just as complex. Should you chase as many links as possible, or aim only for the most reputable ones? After all, backlink volume used to be a core ranking factor – but those days are gone.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Many CMOs are rightly cautious. The abuse of excessive spammy backlinks harmed countless sites’ reputations and visibility. But that doesn’t mean quantity is always bad. </span></p>
<h5><b>Why Quality is Paramount</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Google strongly favours high-quality backlinks. Just a handful of high-quality backlinks from credible, relevant sources can significantly boost your rankings.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">High-quality backlinks are usually:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">From authoritative domains in your niche</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Contextually relevant to your content</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Anchored with meaningful, non-spammy text</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Quality backlinks signal to Google that your content is worth referencing, which is a powerful indicator of trust and authority in your SEO link-building strategy.</span></p>
<h5><b>Quantity Can Diversify</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While quality should always come first and is valued more by Google, there is still a place for quantity, in moderation. A diverse backlink profile with a mix of high- and moderate-quality links can appear more natural to Google.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That doesn’t mean you should tolerate low-quality or spammy links. But moderate-quality links, when relevant and legitimate, can help you:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Broaden your visibility across different sites</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Support your SEO backlink strategy at scale</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Build a more rounded and credible profile.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s about expanding reach without compromising credibility.</span></p>
<h5><b>The Balance of Backlink Quality and Quantity</b></h5>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A balanced approach to backlinks doesn’t just support rankings, it protects against penalties and builds long-term trust. Here’s how you can think about it:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">High-quality backlinks can come from industry publications, trusted blogs, and authoritative news sources.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Moderate-quality backlinks might come from niche directories, relevant forums, or smaller blogs.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The best SEO strategy incorporates both, while avoiding any tactic that feels unnatural or manipulative.</span></p>

<p>Below are seven foolproof ways we’ve found ChatGPT to be helpful for getting the best content results for our clients.</p>
<ul>
<li>Brainstorming blog and content ideas</li>
<li>Creating structured content briefs</li>
<li>Writing first drafts faster</li>
<li>Editing or rewriting existing content</li>
<li>Creating meta titles and descriptions</li>
<li>Generating social media copy</li>
<li>Repurposing content into different formats</li>
</ul>
<p>Let’s break each one down so you can see exactly how they work. But before we do, it’s important to note that we’ve found the <b>paid version of ChatGPT</b> is far better at following instructions, providing more nuance, and for longer chats.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 17.6; line-height: 1; --minfontsize: 17.6;" data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px">1. Brainstorming Blog and Content Ideas</h3>
<p>We’ve all hit that wall where the ideas just stop flowing (or even start to begin with!) ChatGPT is brilliant at helping you get past that block and can act as the <strong>perfect jumping-off point</strong>. Feed it some context, like your target audience and what you’re trying to achieve with the content, and let it generate a list of topics in seconds.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6426 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer.png" alt="" width="2400" height="1254" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-200x105.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-600x314.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-1200x627.png 1200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer-1536x803.png 1536w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Ideation-Example-Codefixer.png 2400w" sizes="(max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /></p>
<p>It won’t replace your instincts, especially when it comes to truly understanding your target audience’s needs. But, it’s a start and can even open you to different perspectives you might not have thought of. From there, you can use SEO tools and manual Google searches to check if people are searching for the topic.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 17.6; line-height: 1; --minfontsize: 17.6;" data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px">2. Creating Structured Content Briefs</h3>
<p>Once you’ve a list of topics, it can be difficult to know how best to structure your content. Is it better to answer the topic right away? Is the content going to be used for a blog post or a whitepaper?</p>
<p>After doing your research and checking what&#8217;s actually ranking on Google for the topic, you’ll be in a better position to see what format works best. Then, you can use ChatGPT to help you build detailed outlines – complete with suggested headings, subheadings, and key points.</p>
<p>Not only does it help quicken things when you’re writing content yourself, but it <strong>prevents structure inconsistencies</strong> when multiple writers are working on the same project.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 17.6; line-height: 1; --minfontsize: 17.6;" data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px">3. Writing First Drafts Faster</h3>
<p>Even with a solid content brief, writing from scratch can often start with sitting in front of a blank screen, watching the cursor flicker impatiently. ChatGPT is fantastic for breaking that blank page syndrome and getting that rough first draft out of the way.</p>
<p>When we use ChatGPT to help us create an initial draft, we find <strong>inserting each section of the content brief one bit at a time </strong>often gives us better results. We’ve tested inserting the entire outline in one go but more often than not, it leads to our instructions and parameters being ignored and misinformation.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6430 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer.png" alt="" width="2400" height="1254" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-200x105.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-600x314.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-1200x627.png 1200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer-1536x803.png 1536w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Blog-Drafting-Example-Codefixer.png 2400w" sizes="(max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /></p>
<p data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px"><div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div></p>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 17.6; line-height: 1; --minfontsize: 17.6;" data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px">4. Editing and Rewriting Existing Content</h3>
<p>After you&#8217;ve created a first rough draft with ChatGPT, and reworked the content yourself, ChatGPT can be used again for editing. AI is great for stripping back content that&#8217;s too long or fleshing out parts that are lacking. If your vocabulary is not the best, ChatGPT can help with that as well (and even teach you a thing or two!)</p>
<p>Simply put your edited draft back into the chat and ask it to critique and revise your content, even <strong>down to a sentence level</strong> if you want.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 17.6; line-height: 1; --minfontsize: 17.6;" data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px">5. Creating Title Tags and Meta Descriptions</h3>
<p>Writing meta titles and descriptions can be awkward as you try to include important keywords and benefits, while staying within the short, yet optimal, character lengths. ChatGPT can quickly generate multiple variations based on your blog content, keywords, and character limits.</p>
<p><strong>You’ll still want to tweak them</strong> to make sure they hit the right tone and avoid sounding too robotic or ‘clickbaity’. Plus, ChatGPT often forgets how to count if you want to get your metadata within recommended character limits.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, it takes the grunt work out of the process and helps you focus on the final polish.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-6429 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer.png" alt="" width="2400" height="1254" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-200x105.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-600x314.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-1200x627.png 1200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer-1536x803.png 1536w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ChatGPT-Meta-Example-Codefixer.png 2400w" sizes="(max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /></p>
<p data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px"><div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div></p>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 17.6; line-height: 1; --minfontsize: 17.6;" data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px">6. Generating Engaging Social Media Copy</h3>
<p>When it’s time to share your content, ChatGPT can help you rework it for social media. Different social media platforms have best practices, which can be time-consuming when posting across several platforms. With the right prompt, ChatGPT can help create concise, engaging copy tailored to each platform, whether it’s a professional LinkedIn post or a snappy tweet.</p>
<p>Just try to <strong>remember who your audience is </strong>and what they expect from your brand. If ChatGPT spits out LinkedIn copy that sounds too salesy and not conversational, you’ll end up alienating readers.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 17.6; line-height: 1; --minfontsize: 17.6;" data-fontsize="17.6" data-lineheight="17.6px">7. Repurposing Content Across Formats</h3>
<p>Similar to adjusting your content to fit social media posts, ChatGPT makes repurposing content for other marketing materials much more achievable. You can turn a blog post into a newsletter, a LinkedIn article, or even a business card.</p>
<p>Just prompt it with the original content and the format you want, and it’ll reshape the message for that context. This helps you <strong>get more mileage from every piece of content you produce</strong>, without starting from scratch each time.</p>

<p>While ChatGPT is incredibly useful, it’s not perfect – and it’s not a substitute for good judgment. Here are some of the common pitfalls we’ve found using ChatGPT for content creation in our agency.</p>
<ul>
<li>It can strip personality.</li>
<li>It can be redundant in long-form content.</li>
<li>It can ignore instructions.</li>
<li>It can hallucinate information.</li>
<li>It can offer false, ‘empty’, or irrelevant citations.</li>
<li>It defaults to US spelling and grammar.</li>
<li>It overuses em dashes (—).</li>
<li>It overuses certain words (ensure, crucial, landscape).</li>
</ul>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<p><strong>&#x1f4a1; Just a note on the last bullet point:</strong> be careful using a word exclusion list with your prompts. When writers make a concerted effort to avoid certain words, ChatGPT and other AI writing tools learn to mimic different commonly used words and phrases, therefore creating a new set of trigger words.</p>
<p>If you’re worried about including some of these trigger words, just think of your target audience. For instance, certain typical trigger words like ‘ensure’ or ‘landscape’ suit industries like <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/medical-device-seo/">medtech</a> or <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/law-firm-seo/">law</a>, so include them. It’s about using your best judgment and avoiding overreliance on AI.</p>
<div class="fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep" style="align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width:100%;"></div>
<h3 class="fusion-responsive-typography-calculated" style="--fontsize: 20.8; line-height: 1.2; --minfontsize: 20.8;" data-fontsize="20.8" data-lineheight="24.96px"><b>Use AI as a Tool, Not a Shortcut</b></h3>
<p>AI is everywhere now, including behind the scenes at many digital marketing agencies. And that&#8217;s fair enough, as long as it&#8217;s used in the right way. It can be tempting to churn out content with little to no human input, but that usually leads to low-quality, off-brand, generic stuff that doesn’t connect with people. And it definitely won’t do you any favours on Google.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
Last week, our SEO and Google Ads team attended Brighton SEO and Hero Conf 2025 for a chance to brush up on our knowledge and bring home new, actionable insights for our client projects. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With over 180 talks delivered across two jam-packed days, we were spoilt for choice! </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here’s a rundown of our favourite talks and speakers, with insights into what we learned from each…</span></p>
<h3><b>Ray’s Takeaway <span style="font-weight: 400;">– </span> Automation and strategy transform SEO outcomes</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This year’s BrightonSEO was packed with insightful talks, so many that it’s hard to cover them all. But a few really stood out to me, especially in how they challenged my thinking around automation and measuring SEO.</span></p>
<p><b>Rasida Begum – <em>Calculating SEO opportunities through a technical lens</em></b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rasida delivered a highly practical session on evaluating the revenue potential of technical SEO improvements. What stood out most was her structured approach to building business cases using data. The spreadsheet she shared for calculating revenue returns from fixes was particularly valuable, making it easier to communicate the financial impact of technical recommendations to stakeholders.</span></p>
<p><b>Jeremy McDonald – <em>Automation, APIs &amp; AI: the death and reinvention of SEO</em></b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jeremy&#8217;s talk was excellent, both inspiring and hands-on. He demonstrated how AI and APIs can streamline time-consuming SEO tasks, like keyword clustering, content audits, and reporting. I found the focus on using automation to shift effort from execution to strategy fascinating. </span></p>
<p><b>Al Ward – <em>SEO for headless commerce</em></b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Al gave an insightful, cautionary tale about the challenges of transitioning to a headless commerce setup without fully accounting for SEO. He shared real-world examples of traffic and revenue losses caused by mismanaged migrations, emphasising the need to integrate SEO considerations from the outset.</span></p>
<p><b>Daniel Foley – <em>Query Counting for SEO –Why you need to be paying attention!</em></b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Daniel’s talk introduced a fresh approach to measuring SEO success by tracking the number of queries driving impressions to a page. This method offers a more nuanced way to assess improvements beyond just traffic or rankings. It’s especially useful for identifying content that’s broadening its reach in search.</span></p>
<h3><b>Rachael’s Takeaway </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">– </span><b>Real human experience on product pages drive conversions, because authenticity sells</b></h3>
<p>I really enjoyed Imogen Groome&#8217;s &#8216;<em>Scaling UGC with AI: populate product pages with REAL reviews</em>&#8216;, which highlighted the influence of consumer reviews on buying behaviour. 70% of shoppers rely on reviews to make purchase decisions, and 62% use their phones in-store to check reviews.</p>
<p>In light of this, Imogen offered lots of tips on getting useful customer reviews…</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Ask for feature-specific reviews to get reddit-style responses.</strong> Questions like “How did these shoes hold up on long runs?” or “Have you noticed any skin changes since using the serum?” work well.</li>
<li><strong>Use autocomplete prompts</strong> like “I use this mostly for…” or “What I liked most was…” to guide reviewers to provide more useful and detailed feedback.</li>
<li><strong>AI can be useful to summarise and repurpose review content.</strong> Amazon is a great example; they use it to create a top-level summary from customer reviews.</li>
<li><strong>For customers who re-purchase the same product</strong>, schedule review request emails right after checkout to tap into purchase psychology.</li>
</ul>
<h3><b><br />
Kate’s Takeaway <span style="font-weight: 400;">– </span></b><b>Better alt-text can drive better UX and sales</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">My favourite talk from this year’s Brighton SEO conference had to be Liam Cumber’s ‘</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">What the f**k is alt-text, and how do you write it?</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">’. As SEOs, we understand what alt text is, but we rarely do more than the bare minimum to satisfy Google. With more than </span><a href="https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/blindness-and-visual-impairment#:~:text=Prevalence-,Globally%2C%20at%20least%202.2%20billion%20people%20have%20a%20near%20or%20distance%20vision%20impairment.,-In%20at%20least"><span style="font-weight: 400;">2.2 billion people being visually impaired</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, just satisfying Google isn’t enough. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Listening to Liam’s talk, the takeaways that I’ll be bringing to client projects are: </span></p>
<ul>
<li><b>If content is king, context is queen. </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">Plainly describing what’s in an image does little for the reader. Striking the balance with context (how the image relates to the rest of the content) improves how a reader should be feeling when interacting with your content. </span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li aria-level="1"><b>Impairment isn’t black and white. </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">We tend to think of someone as either impaired or not, i.e., it’s always permanent. But impairment can impact us – and your audience – even temporarily or situationally at any time in our lives. (A great situational example Liam gave was when images don’t load due to poor underground wi-fi.)<br />
</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
<b></b></span></li>
<li aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><b>Alt-text is an underrated selling opportunity.</b> With nearly a quarter of the world’s population being visually impaired, descriptive, benefit-driven alt-text is an incredibly simple chance to attract an otherwise-neglected market. For instance, in the example below, understanding that the image depicts James Bond instead of just a well-dressed man can sell your audience&#8217;s dream of feeling like a suave, sophisticated gentleman.</span></li>
</ul>

<h3><b><br />
Michael’s Takeaway <span style="font-weight: 400;">– </span>Align SEO and PPC to boost ROI and avoid paying twice through search cannibalisation</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">BrightonSEO this year featured some great talks. I was delighted that HeroConf was also there this year, so both our SEO and PPC teams could immerse themselves.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With that in mind, quite a few talks touched on closer collaboration between the SEO and PPC teams, including strategies to avoid search cannibalisation. Chris Ridley of Evoluted gave a very insightful talk titled ‘<em>Stop paying twice: how to eliminate search cannibalisation and maximise ROI</em>’.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another very relevant talk was Hannah Strong’s talk on ‘<em>Shop local: utilising Google Ads to grow your local business’</em>. This was super relevant as we are working on it with a client. It covered driving footfall into e-commerce stores and touched on PMax, Google Maps, Local Inventory Ads, Store Visits, and eligibility.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There were a number of PMax campaigns, including Duane Brown’s talk on ‘<em>Google Ads audits for ecom: you’re lighting money on fire!</em>’ with advice on breaking down the campaigns by brand, category/product, and margins – the usual suspects. And not rely solely on a catchall Pmax with a limited budget to work for relatively small budgets. Focus on your best sellers and best-selling brands, and spend your money here. Remember the 80:20 rule. Another of the biggest levers to pull is still optimising your mobile UX.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Other talks covered psychology in ads, conversion tracking with rubbish in and rubbish out, and making sure your conversion tracking and data product is as clean as possible.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lastly but not least<span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">, we got to attend Anna Lewis&#8217;s ‘<em>The Ultimate GA4 Audit,</em> &#8216; a super quick checklist on</span> how to set up and configure GA4.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Ethan’s Takeaway </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8211; </span><b>Mindset matters more than demographics when it comes to CTR</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In Sarah Pakorna’s &#8216;<em>Mindset-based targeting &#8211; achieving 5x more with 5x less content</em>&#8216;, one idea really stuck out: people don’t just click because of who they are, but because of how they think. Though this was an SEO talk, I think the takeaways apply to Ads; Ads that align with a person’s mindset (Fixed or Growth) are far more likely to get engagement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I’ll be keeping this in mind when writing ad copy:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fixed-mindset audiences want fast results and proven success. That means using expert, polished language like “Get certified in days”, “Trusted by professionals”, and “200% faster results”.</span></span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Growth-mindset audiences are drawn to learning and exploration. They respond better to process-focused language like “Explore new ways to grow” and “Learn from real stories”.</span></span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ryanair is a good example of a company that targets the fixed mindset: “We’ll get you there for less”. Conversely, Nike is an example of a company that taps into a growth mindset with the slogan “Find your greatness”.</span></span></li>
</ul>

While these strategies remain valuable, they often overlook a critical opportunity: the increasing number of healthcare professionals and procurement teams who turn to Google to research medical technologies.</p>
<p>If your company isn&#8217;t ranking on search engines, you&#8217;re losing potential business to competitors that are. Medical device <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/">SEO</a> ensures your company is visible at the exact moment decision-makers are searching for opportunities.</p>
<h3><b>What is Medical Device SEO? </b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Medical device SEO is the process of optimising a medical device company’s website to meet Google&#8217;s preferred metrics and rank higher in search engine results.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">  SEO involves keyword research, content creation, technical site improvements, and link-building to help companies attract and convert high-value leads. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With <a href="https://backlinko.com/google-ctr-stats#:~:text=In%20fact%2C%20only%20.63%25%20of%20Google%20searchers%20clicked%20on%20something%20from%20the%20second%20page.">only 0.63% of users</a> clicking beyond the first page of results, ranking on Page One is critical – even in niche industries.</span></p>
<h3><b>Benefits of SEO for Medical Device Companies</b></h3>
<p>For medical device companies, SEO is a key driver of growth. With more healthcare professionals, procurement teams, and patients researching medical technologies online, a strong search presence helps your business attract the right audience. Whether the goal is generating leads, increasing visibility, or supporting existing marketing efforts, SEO provides long-term, sustainable results.</p>
<h5><strong>1. Lead Generation and Market Growth</strong></h5>
<p>The biggest advantage of SEO, and likely the most important business metric, is lead generation. By improving search visibility, medical device companies can connect with healthcare professionals and procurement teams actively searching for device opportunities. Unlike traditional outreach, SEO attracts high-intent visitors already looking for medical devices, increasing conversions and driving business growth.</p>
<h5><strong>2. Increased Online Visibility</strong></h5>
<p>Medical device companies compete in highly specialised fields where standing out is essential. With strict regulations and a growing number of innovative solutions entering the market, a strong SEO strategy helps you appear in relevant search results. Greater visibility builds trust, strengthens brand authority, and creates a competitive edge.</p>
<h5><strong>3. Cost-Effective and Sustainable Growth</strong></h5>
<p>Unlike paid advertising, which requires ongoing investment, SEO delivers lasting results. By targeting high-value keywords, your company can attract a steady flow of organic traffic without continuously paying for clicks. While SEO requires investment in content and technical improvements, it offers a <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/seo-roi-calculating-seo-return-on-investment/">strong return over time</a>.</p>
<h5><strong>4. Supporting Offline Marketing Efforts</strong></h5>
<p>SEO enhances offline marketing by providing high-quality content that can be repurposed for brochures, whitepapers, and conference materials. A well-optimised website also creates a consistent brand voice across marketing channels, reinforcing credibility and brand recognition.</p>
<h3><b>Unique Challenges For Medical Device SEO</b></h3>
<p data-start="220" data-end="583">SEO in the medical device industry comes with unique challenges that go beyond standard optimisation techniques. Strict regulations, complex sales cycles, and highly technical content make ranking well on search engines more difficult than in other industries. Below are some of the key obstacles medical device companies face when implementing an SEO strategy.</p>
<h5 data-start="585" data-end="645"><strong>Regulatory Compliance and Search Engine Guidelines</strong></h5>
<p data-start="647" data-end="1089">For medical device companies, regulatory requirements directly impact digital marketing efforts. Google categorises medical content under its Your Money, Your Life (YMYL) guidelines, meaning it holds this information to higher standards of accuracy and trustworthiness. To rank well, your company&#8217;s website must publish authoritative, well-researched content that aligns with both search engine standards and industry regulations such as EU MDR and MHRA.</p>
<h5 data-start="1091" data-end="1147"><strong>Long Sales Cycles and Multiple Decision-Makers</strong></h5>
<p data-start="1149" data-end="1644">Unlike consumer products, medical devices typically involve a complex sales process with multiple decision-makers, including clinicians, procurement officers, and regulatory bodies. SEO must account for this by targeting different stakeholders at various stages of the buying journey, from educational content for early research to detailed specifications for procurement teams. A well-planned strategy, beginning with an <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/why-an-seo-audit-is-important/">SEO audit</a>, ensures that all key decision-makers find the information they need when searching online.</p>
<h5 data-start="1646" data-end="1701"><strong data-start="1650" data-end="1699">Balancing Technical Accuracy with Readability</strong></h5>
<p data-start="1703" data-end="2190">Medical devices often involve highly technical information, which can be difficult for non-specialists to understand. SEO strategies must strike a balance between maintaining scientific accuracy and making content accessible to a wider audience, including procurement teams and patients. Using structured headings, simplified explanations, and clear formatting improves readability, keeps visitors engaged, and signals to search engines that the content is valuable and well-organised.</p>
<h3><b>Types of SEO Services for Medical Device Companies</b></h3>
<p data-start="313" data-end="668">SEO for medical device companies requires a strategic, multi-layered approach. Below are the key types of SEO that help medical device companies increase visibility and attract high-value leads.</p>
<h5 data-start="670" data-end="718"><strong data-start="674" data-end="716">Local SEO for Medical Device Companies</strong></h5>
<p data-start="720" data-end="1233">Local SEO helps medical device companies target regional markets, particularly if they have distributors or operate within specific healthcare networks. This involves optimising Google Business Profile listings, ensuring consistent local citations, and creating location-specific content to attract healthcare professionals and procurement teams searching for solutions. For devices regulated at the national or regional level, local SEO also helps make compliance information easily accessible to local buyers.</p>

<h5 data-start="1235" data-end="1285"><strong data-start="1239" data-end="1283">Content SEO for Medical Device Companies</strong></h5>
<p data-start="1287" data-end="1742">High-quality content plays a critical role in driving organic leads. In fact, B2B marketers get <a href="https://optinmonster.com/blogging-statistics/#:~:text=B2B%20marketers%20who%20have%20blogs%20get%2067%25%20more%20leads%20than%20those%20who%20don%E2%80%99t.">67% more leads</a> with a blog than those who don&#8217;t have one. Blog posts, whitepapers, case studies, and product pages should be optimised for relevant keywords while also addressing the needs of the company’s target audience.</p>
<h5 data-start="1744" data-end="1796"><strong data-start="1748" data-end="1794">Technical SEO for Medical Device Companies</strong></h5>
<p data-start="1798" data-end="2179">A well-optimised website is essential for search visibility, particularly for healthcare professionals increasingly relying on mobile devices for research. Technical SEO includes improving site speed, ensuring mobile usability, implementing structured data, and maintaining high security standards, such as SSL encryption and compliance with regulations like GDPR and ISO 27001.</p>
<h5 data-start="2181" data-end="2232"><strong data-start="2185" data-end="2230">Off-Page SEO for Medical Device Companies</strong></h5>
<p data-start="2234" data-end="2669">Off-page SEO builds authority through external signals, such as backlinks from medical journals, regulatory bodies, and healthcare organisations. Securing links from reputable industry sources improves rankings while strengthening credibility and trustworthiness in a regulated sector. Digital PR, guest blogging, and partnerships with healthcare organisations can further establish industry authority and drive high-quality traffic.</p>
<h3><b>Working with an SEO Agency That Knows Healthcare Industries </b></h3>
<p data-start="245" data-end="540">Medical device companies operate in a complex, highly regulated environment where SEO goes beyond basic optimisation. A successful strategy must balance visibility with compliance, making it essential to work with an agency that understands the challenges of marketing in regulated industries.</p>
<p data-start="542" data-end="1003">Our agency has worked extensively with <a href="https://www.codefixer.com/case-studies/mu-private-healthcare-clinic/">healthcare clients</a>, including pharmaceutical companies, giving us deep expertise in regulatory requirements, content accuracy, and search quality standards. Medical device companies face similar complexities, from strict advertising guidelines to the need for authoritative, well-researched content. With our experience in healthcare SEO, we develop strategies that improve search rankings while maintaining credibility.</p>
<p data-start="1005" data-end="1278">As a small agency, we take a hands-on approach, providing your company with direct access to experienced SEO specialists. Unlike larger firms where accounts are passed between teams, we offer dedicated support, taking the time to understand your business, target audience, and compliance needs.</p>
<p data-start="1005" data-end="1278"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-5818 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1.png" alt="SEO and Google Ad Specialists from Codefixer" width="2100" height="1097" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-200x104.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-300x157.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-400x209.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-600x313.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-768x401.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-800x418.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-1200x627.png 1200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1-1536x802.png 1536w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/SEO-Google-Ads-Specialists-from-Codefixer-1.png 2100w" sizes="(max-width: 2100px) 100vw, 2100px" /></p>

With over 200 ranking factors, multiple algorithm updates a year, and roughly <a href="https://siteefy.com/how-many-websites-are-there/#:~:text=websites%20are%20active-,252%2C000,new%20websites%20are%20created%20every%20day,-10%2C500">252 million newly created websites a day</a>, Google has a lot to do. To get sustainable results from your SEO strategy, it&#8217;s important to give it the time it deserves. But, as a business owner, is there a rough timeframe before you see results for your efforts?</p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>How Long Does SEO Take? </strong> </span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to a poll by Ahrefs, </span><a href="https://ahrefs.com/blog/how-long-does-seo-take/#:~:text=It%20typically%20takes%20three%20to%20six%20months%20for%20SEO%20to%20show%20results.%20That%E2%80%99s%20according%20to%20the%203%2C680%20people%20who%20responded%20to%20our%20polls%20on%20LinkedIn%20and%20X."><span style="font-weight: 400;">58% of SEO professionals</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> believe that a successful SEO strategy takes at least 3–6 months to show noticeable results. On average, it takes up to 12 months to see sustainable results from your SEO efforts. So, if you see someone promising you quick results, they’re likely using black-hat (shady) SEO tactics that Google will soon penalise, so it’s important to </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/how-to-choose-an-seo-agency-after-being-burned/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">vet your SEO agency before you get burned</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<h3><b>Why Does SEO Take So Long?</b></h3>
<p>SEO takes so long because Google needs to be able to crawl and index your website, and check it against 200 ranking factors. In essence, these ranking factors help Google discover and reward websites that demonstrate that they are trustworthy, relevant, and helpful. When done correctly, your website can appear highly on Page One.</p>
<p>To do this, your SEO strategy needs to address some of the most influential ranking factors, including your website’s age, backlink profile, on-page and technical SEO elements, and industry competition. These signals take time to build and influence rankings – even with the best strategies to follow.</p>
<h3><b>7 Factors That Influence SEO Timelines</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With over 200 ranking factors, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. So, we’ve gathered seven of the ranking factors (and business factors) that we believe influence your site’s organic visibility and traffic the most.</span></p>
<h3>1. Website Age</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Older websites tend to perform better than new ones because they’ve had more time to establish pages, content, and backlinks to build authority. According to Google’s John Muller, it can</span> <a href="https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-rankings-for-new-sites-could-fluctuate-for-up-to-a-year/372109/#:~:text=I%20think%20if,search%20results%20overall."><span style="font-weight: 400;">take up to a year</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> for Google to know where to rank new sites. But that doesn’t mean a new website is no good; it just needs more time and effort to get it to a place where it can compete with those more established websites.</span></p>
<h3>2. Backlink Profile</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Building backlinks is one of the most popular yet contentious off-page SEO strategies. You may have heard that backlink building meant spammy links and Google penalties. But, when done correctly, quality backlinks can truly make a difference. They signal to Google that your website is trustworthy and helpful. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Take one of our clients: they were struggling to compete with a highly competitive keyword. Before investing in ethical link-building, they struggled to appear at the top of Page Three. Now, they are sitting comfortably in Position 6 on Page One. </span></p>

<h3></h3>
<h3>3. On-Page Optimisation</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On-page SEO involves optimising the on-page elements of a website. This includes improving existing content, optimising title tags and meta descriptions (what crawlers use to understand content) for target keywords, and including helpful internal links. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Depending on the size of your website, on-page optimisation could take days, weeks, or even months to implement and see ranking changes.</span></p>
<h3>4. Technical Optimisation</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Technical SEO includes all the technical elements of your site: how quickly it loads, how easy it is to navigate, how it works on mobile, and how secure it is. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Google’s aim is to make its user experience (also known as UX) as helpful as possible. If a site isn’t loading properly or is awkward to use, visitors will ‘bounce’ back to the search results page. This bounce rate signals to Google that your website isn’t helping UX, which results in a lower ranking.</span></p>
<h3>5. Competition</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">How competitive your market and target keywords are will affect how quickly your site sees positive SEO results. In highly competitive sectors like e-commerce, it will take extra effort and strategy adjustments to stand out from the crowd. Whereas, if your market is small or niche, it can be easier to rank highly in a shorter timeframe.</span></p>

<h3>6. Business Goals and KPIs</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">How quickly you see positive results from your SEO strategy will depend on your business goals and KPIs. For example, if you’re looking to improve traffic and rankings within the first 6 months, then you’ll likely see positive results. But, if you want to improve the amount of qualified leads or revenue by X within a period of time, your SEO efforts will need longer. </span></p>
<h3>7. Available Resources</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Where SEO lies in your business’s marketing strategies is one of the biggest non-SEO influencing factors. </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/seo-roi-calculating-seo-return-on-investment/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Proving SEO’s return on investment</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is difficult, so some businesses aren’t sure how much of their budget to allocate or how to secure buy-in. Without a sufficient budget, it can be harder to implement strategies like backlink building. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Aside from budget, having access to the right SEO professionals with the right tools can make all the difference. When you work with an </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-agency-belfast/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">SEO agency</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that is experienced in carrying out successful SEO strategies, it can streamline the issues and hiccups that a less experienced team might not be able to handle.</span></p>
<h3><b>What&#8217;s a Typical SEO Timeline?</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now that you have an idea of what is involved with an SEO strategy, you can see how a successful one can’t be rushed. Below is a general SEO timeline to measure your SEO efforts if you want to keep your strategy in-house. (However, we believe that </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/blog/in-house-seo-vs-seo-outsourcing-which-is-better/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">it’s better to outsource SEO</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> to experts who live and breathe SEO every day.)</span></p>
<p><b>Months 1-3</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Before starting any fixes, it’s important to understand what’s wrong with your site, so we recommend beginning with </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/seo-audit/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">an audit</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. This will unearth technical fixes, content gaps, and where you stand against your competitors. </span></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-5417 size-full" src="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer.png" alt="SEO Michael Wall presenting an SEO Audit at Codefixer Office." width="2400" height="1500" srcset="https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-200x125.png 200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-300x188.png 300w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-400x250.png 400w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-600x375.png 600w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-768x480.png 768w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-800x500.png 800w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-1024x640.png 1024w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-1200x750.png 1200w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer-1536x960.png 1536w, https://www.codefixer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Data-Driven-SEO-Reports-Codefixer.png 2400w" sizes="(max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">From there, you can create a strategy that lays out the priority fixes and optimisations. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Depending on the number of critical technical fixes that need addressing, optimising your website’s content might come into play in the latter half of this phase. Using the keywords you want to target as guidance, start optimising existing content and create a content strategy to target those keywords.</span></p>
<p><b>Months 4-6</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">During these months, continue adding improved, helpful content and addressing technical and on-page issues. Though it depends on the above factors, you might see small improvements in your organic traffic and rankings. But that doesn’t mean your SEO strategy is done.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Building quality backlinks during this phase will help boost your site’s authority, but it’s crucial you research backlink vendors to weed out those who use spammy, low-quality links. (This would be another reason why we recommend outsourcing to an SEO agency; they know the red flags to look for when vendor shopping.)</span></p>
<p><b>Months 7–12 and beyond</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">By consistently monitoring your site for technical issues, keyword position rankings, and its backlink profile health, you should start to see sustainable growth in organic traffic and visibility now. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But every website is unique, so timelines will vary. This is why we recommend SEO monthly reports, whether done internally or with your chosen SEO agency, to recognise early wins and identify strategy adjustments.</span></p>
<h3><b>Choose an SEO Partner Who Knows SEO Takes Time</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Though you can do your own SEO, it is often easier and more cost-effective to work with an SEO partner. You can focus on your business goals while the SEO agency implements and monitors your SEO strategy. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As we mentioned earlier, if an agency promises guaranteed results or results within a specific (often short) timeframe, it’s best to avoid them. Instead, choose an agency that understands the patience required for a successful SEO strategy. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Look for agencies that showcase their </span><a href="https://www.codefixer.com/case-studies/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">proven track record</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, have years of experience knowing what it takes to get an SEO strategy off the ground, and pride themselves on regular client communication and detailed monthly reports. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It depends on your KPIs and the agency’s suggested metrics (if you’re using one). For example, some of the tools we use to efficiently track progress include Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, and Advanced Web Ranking (AWR).</span></p>
